Promoting Peace through Regional Cooperation: Participation in the High-Level Forum in Turkmenistan

On October 11, 2024, the CEO of nüma tourism, Ms. Dalya Altuntepe, participated in the international forum “Interrelation of Times and Civilizations – The Basis of Peace and Development” held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. The high-level event was chaired by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and brought together heads of state as well as leading figures from diplomacy, academia, culture, and business.

The forum formed a central part of the international celebrations marking the 300th anniversary of the renowned Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fragi. It aimed to generate impulses for peace, cultural dialogue, and sustainable development beyond national and regional boundaries.

As part of the official program, Ms. Altuntepe delivered a guest lecture at the International University for the Humanities and Development in Ashgabat. Under the title “Peace through Development”, she emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in Central Asia. The speech highlighted the strategic role of tourism as a bridge between cultures and as a powerful instrument for strengthening social cohesion, economic resilience, and the promotion of peace – both within the region and globally.

Following the forum, bilateral meetings were held with representatives of the Tourism Department under the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan as well as the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. These business-oriented discussions focused on concrete steps to support the development of the tourism sector and to explore opportunities for sustainable cooperation between economic and tourism stakeholders.

The visit concluded with site visits to selected tourist attractions, including the capital city Ashgabat, the historic fortress of Gökdepe, and the spectacular Darvaza gas crater in the Karakum Desert. These experiences underscored Turkmenistan’s unique tourism potential and reinforced nüma tourism’s commitment to fostering international connectivity and the strategic positioning of Central Asian destinations.
